Murray Sovereign at VPO Squamish said tha some guy with a barge is offering car rides from Porteau to Squamish, $40 one way.
There is also a trail that bypasses the slide, suitable for foot traffic only. It starts about 1km south of the slide at the top of the big hill south of Porteau, and follows an old logging road through the woods (past some interesting crags with blank, blank slabs btw) to join up with the Marion and Phyllis Lakes trail east of Furry Creek golf course, a distance of about 3km. From this junction you can walk down to Furry Creek and back to the highway through the residential area. This would be a good option if you have someone in Squamish to come pick you up. |

| No Barge. I just spoke with Valhalla Pure up in Sqaumish. There is a water taxi from Horseshoe Bay to Squamish. The cost is anywhere from 50-80 dollars one way....call 604-898-3733 |
